Wild Hogs: Film #4 of Film 365

Wednesday 16th March 2011

Director: Walt Becker
Year: 2007
Stars: John Travolta, Martin Lawrence, William H. Macy, Tim Allen, Marisa Tomei, Ray Liotta

Having read a number of reviews of this movie, I wasn't expecting anything too brain-taxing. Which is lucky, because I didn't have to think much.

Wild Hogs is all about 4 middle-aged men who decide to go on a road trip with their motorbikes in order to try and reclaim the freedom of their youth. And that's pretty much it. The second half of the plot sees them end up in the town of Madrid (in small-town USA, not central Spain) for various reasons, but the movie never loses its focus on this being about four middle-aged men trying to reclaim their youth.

As long as you know what you're getting is a fairly tongue-in-cheek, slapstick kind of a movie, you'll probably be happy with Wild Hogs. All the actors play up to their movie star personas, so if you like any of them in other movies, you should like them in this too.

Rating: 3.5 out of 5

About Me

My photo
I live in Bristol with my husband Dan (who I married in July 2007), my son Joe (born 2012) and daughter Jess (born 2015). I work at UWE (the University of the West of England) in Bristol as a Research and Open Access Librarian. I'm orginally from Exeter, so moving back to Bristol is a bit like coming home - especially as I studied for my undergraduate degree here (also at UWE). I love travelling and movies, although I get to do a lot less of both since the birth of our children. Although we have still managed to fit in holidays to the Isles of Scilly, Chamonix and a summer in California since Joe was born.
