The Ghost Writer

Director: Roman Polanski
Year: 2010
Stars: Ewan McGregor, Pierce Brosnan, Olivia Williams

There doesn't seem to be a lot on at the cinema at the moment. Having not been for a few weeks though, I fancied a visit. I can't say this would have been my first choice of what to see, but out of what was actually showing it certainly was.

The Ghost Writer follows (unsurprisingly, perhaps) a "ghost" writer (McGregor) who writes autobiographies for people, as he takes on the task of writing the ex-MP of Britain's (Brosnan) autobiography after his first writer dies.

The film isn't bad - it's just a bit too obvious, a bit too long and a bit too dull. If I hadn't been watching it in the cinema I may well have been a little bored. It's OK entertainment for a random Saturday night movie, but there's nothing special here.

Rating: 2.5 out of 5

About Me

My photo
I live in Bristol with my husband Dan (who I married in July 2007), my son Joe (born 2012) and daughter Jess (born 2015). I work at UWE (the University of the West of England) in Bristol as a Research and Open Access Librarian. I'm orginally from Exeter, so moving back to Bristol is a bit like coming home - especially as I studied for my undergraduate degree here (also at UWE). I love travelling and movies, although I get to do a lot less of both since the birth of our children. Although we have still managed to fit in holidays to the Isles of Scilly, Chamonix and a summer in California since Joe was born.
