Atlantis: The Lost Empire

Director: Gary Trousdale, Kirk Wise
Year: 2001
Stars: Michael J. Fox, James Garner (voices)

The last of the Sunday afternoon Disney movies I recorded, Dan was very definitely wanting to watch a Disney movie this morning. So this was the only choice!

I wasn't expecting a lot from this, having read some less than positive reviews. In fairness, it's certainly not up there with the Disney greats - Aladdin, Pocahontas, The Lion King and such. The plot follows Milo Thatch, a guy who wants to find the lost city of Atlantis and it's power source.

The story isn't bad - at least there is a story. It's just that the film doesn't have the extra bits (the great songs, the comic moments) that the best Disney films do. An acceptable distraction, but not a great movie.

Rating: 2.5 out of 5

About Me

My photo
I live in Bristol with my husband Dan (who I married in July 2007), my son Joe (born 2012) and daughter Jess (born 2015). I work at UWE (the University of the West of England) in Bristol as a Research and Open Access Librarian. I'm orginally from Exeter, so moving back to Bristol is a bit like coming home - especially as I studied for my undergraduate degree here (also at UWE). I love travelling and movies, although I get to do a lot less of both since the birth of our children. Although we have still managed to fit in holidays to the Isles of Scilly, Chamonix and a summer in California since Joe was born.
