Little Girl Lost: The Delimar Vera Story

Monday 23rd September 2013

Director: Paul A. Kaufman
Year: 2008
Stars: Judy Reyes, Ana Ortiz, Jillian Bruno

I wasn't expecting very much from this at all. It was on TV one afternoon (one of those daytime Channel 5 movies you get) and I was having a lazy Monday afternoon. Little Girl Lost turned out to be better than I was expecting, and possibly than it had any right to be.

Based on a true story, the movie is all about the girl Delimar Vera (Bruno), who disappears as a baby when a fire breaks out in her parents' home during a party. Everybody else believes that Delimar is dead, except for her mother (Reyes), who is convinced she has been kidnapped and is now living with another family somewhere.

This being a TV movie, you can probably guess that there is something in what the mother is saying. However, although the ending is perhaps relatively obvious (especially if you already know the true story), the acting is still pretty good, and the film manages to keep you interested for the duration.

You could do worse if you're picking a random Monday afternoon TV movie.

Rating: 3 out of 5

About Me

My photo
I live in Bristol with my husband Dan (who I married in July 2007), my son Joe (born 2012) and daughter Jess (born 2015). I work at UWE (the University of the West of England) in Bristol as a Research and Open Access Librarian. I'm orginally from Exeter, so moving back to Bristol is a bit like coming home - especially as I studied for my undergraduate degree here (also at UWE). I love travelling and movies, although I get to do a lot less of both since the birth of our children. Although we have still managed to fit in holidays to the Isles of Scilly, Chamonix and a summer in California since Joe was born.
