Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl: Film #41 of Film 365

Sunday 5th June 2011

Director: Gore Verbinski
Year: 2003
Stars: Johnny Depp, Keira Knightley, Orlando Bloom, Geoffrey Rush, Jack Davenport, Jonathan Pryce

... and so, the next day, I did! I've seen this film a LOT - including twice at the cinema when it was released (once in LA, when we also got to see all the original props. Result!). And yes, I still love it. Repeated viewings mean I know the story back-to-front (Jack Sparrow running from the British navy, lots of convoluted back-stabbing, mutiny, and zombies for those who don't know), but this doesn't spoil my enjoyment of it.

One of my favourite movies of the past 10 years due to its madcap pace, brilliant storyline and fun outlook on life. Now I just need to watch Pirates 2 and 3 again to remind myself of the complete story...

Rating: 5 out of 5

About Me

My photo
I live in Bristol with my husband Dan (who I married in July 2007), my son Joe (born 2012) and daughter Jess (born 2015). I work at UWE (the University of the West of England) in Bristol as a Research and Open Access Librarian. I'm orginally from Exeter, so moving back to Bristol is a bit like coming home - especially as I studied for my undergraduate degree here (also at UWE). I love travelling and movies, although I get to do a lot less of both since the birth of our children. Although we have still managed to fit in holidays to the Isles of Scilly, Chamonix and a summer in California since Joe was born.
