The Rat Pack

Director: Rob Cohen
Year: 1998
Stars: Ray Liotta, Don Cheadle, Joe Mantegna

I recorded this a while ago, and have been avoiding watching it ever since. I'm not totally sure why I recorded it, as I was expecting it not to be very good. However, I was looking for something easy and relaxing to watch so thought I'd give it a go.

Perhaps one of the reasons I recorded the film was because it was about the original rat pack - Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr. and Dean Martin etc. They're a group I don't know much about, but I was curious to learn a little more. This film focuses on their lives at the point in time when JFK became president, and how they were involved in that.

It's not a terrible film, it's just, well, a little dull. I didn't really believe any of the actors as their counterparts (Liotta as Sinatra especially bugs me for some reason), and the film didn't move fast enough and wasn't interesting enough to keep my attention.

About Me

My photo
I live in Bristol with my husband Dan (who I married in July 2007), my son Joe (born 2012) and daughter Jess (born 2015). I work at UWE (the University of the West of England) in Bristol as a Research and Open Access Librarian. I'm orginally from Exeter, so moving back to Bristol is a bit like coming home - especially as I studied for my undergraduate degree here (also at UWE). I love travelling and movies, although I get to do a lot less of both since the birth of our children. Although we have still managed to fit in holidays to the Isles of Scilly, Chamonix and a summer in California since Joe was born.
