Just Like Heaven

Director: Mark Waters
Year: 2005
Stars: Reese Witherspoon, Mark Ruffalo

The last romance of my 3-day ill period. "Hoorah!" I hear you cry. Actually, this one was better. Still a romance, and still out of Hollywood, so not that much better, but pretty engaging, sweet and with some relatively funny parts.

Elizabeth is a doctor with not much of a social life, and certainly no love life. This all changes when she's in an accident and ends up in a coma. An interesting place to meet the love of your life, and it leads to some pretty amusing scenes.

Of course, all the standard boy-girl/ love-hate of Hollywood romances is here, but it's done well and is enjoyable enough. Had it been the first of the four romances, and not the fourth, I would probably be a little more positive.

Rating: 3.5 out of 5

About Me

My photo
I live in Bristol with my husband Dan (who I married in July 2007), my son Joe (born 2012) and daughter Jess (born 2015). I work at UWE (the University of the West of England) in Bristol as a Research and Open Access Librarian. I'm orginally from Exeter, so moving back to Bristol is a bit like coming home - especially as I studied for my undergraduate degree here (also at UWE). I love travelling and movies, although I get to do a lot less of both since the birth of our children. Although we have still managed to fit in holidays to the Isles of Scilly, Chamonix and a summer in California since Joe was born.
