A History of Violence
Director: David Cronenberg
Year: 2005
Stars: Viggo Mortensen, Maria Bello, Ashton Holmes, Ed Harris
This was another film that I had wanted to watch when first released, but never quite around to seeing. Going by the title, I was expecting to see a film about a man with a history of violence. That's sort of true (to say any more would give the plot away), but what I got wasn't what I had been expecting.
That's not to say the film wasn't engaging - the plot was intelligent enough, and it kept me watching until midnight so must have had something going for it! It's hard to say much else as I'd need to say too much about the plot to do so, so suffice it to say it's certainly worth a watch - as long as you're not too squeamish. There isn't much violence during the course of the film, but when it comes, it's strong. Very strong.
